Lynda E. Cobain is an advanced member of the Law Society Family Law Panel. All our lawyers in our specialist family department are available to give experienced, sympathetic and professional advice on the following:

• Financial disputes upon divorce and separation
• Divorce and family matters
• Cohabitation and prenuptial agreements
• Issues regarding children
• Accredited family law specialist
• Collaborative practitioner

At Cobains, we can advise you on the implications of dealing with matters by way of divorce or deed of separation. We will discuss the options with you in order to conclude matters as quickly and amicably as possible.

We seek to resolve maintenance issues and custody of children sympathetically and quickly, encouraging parents to reach an agreement as to the arrangements for their children themselves.

Where this is not possible we can advise on the best options available to you. Sometimes it is necessary to apply for a residence order (formerly called custody) to confirm where a child will live. Sometimes it is necessary to apply for a contact order (formerly called access) to determine how much contact the child has with the other parent.

We will attempt to resolve financial disputes amicably. However, if we feel that court proceedings will be necessary in order to achieve the best outcome for you, we will discuss the options with you. Sometimes it is necessary to use the court's procedure if the other party is not cooperating or it is not possible to reach an amicable agreement.

We can mediate agreements regarding finance and capital assets following a breakdown of cohabitation.
